We started at Seasons in the Sun RV park near Titusville, Fl. to allow us to visit Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and the Kennedy Space Center.
Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge is actually part of the Kennedy Space Center. and is a wonderful place to observe and photograph Florida waterfowl.
The variety and abundance of wildlife is absolutely staggering.
After about a week at Titusville, we moved on down to the Everglades.
Everybody has to stop once in a while to smell the flowers.
The Everglades has crowds of people and other critters.
I believe that if we had stayed long enough, we would have seen some baby Great Blue Herons.
This fellow was insisting on sharing his lunch with me.
A couple baby cormorants are in the making.
Contrary to popular belief, I sometimes photograph something other than critters.
But not very often.
Since we were staying in Homestead, we decided to take a day trip down into the Keys where we spent the day at Bahia Honda State Park.
The it was on to Ft. Myers for a few days where wa stayed at the San Carlos RV park with a site right on the water. Actually the rear of our motorhome hung out over the water.
A lot of pelicans were roosting in the mangroves right behind us.
A few Ibisis were there also.
After Ft. Myers, we traveled up to Dade City to meet up with Pat's aunt and uncle.
They took us to a place in Plant City that has the world's best, largest, and best strawberry shortcake.
Here Fred is showing us what a real Florida lemon looks like on the tree.
OK the sun is setting, it is the end of January and it is time to head for home and the cold weather.
Oops, that's not quite the end of the story. On the way home, the dog got sick and had to spend the night in a doggie critical care unit. I didn't know they had such things but I do now and they are expensive, especially if you don't have health insurance for your dog. Well this is all for Florida for this year. Next, off to Alaska and perhaps a few bears and moose (or is it meese).
